MARRIAGE

Congratulations on your decision to receive the Sacrament of Matrimony!

The Catholic Church recognizes marriage as a sacred, lifelong covenant.  By choosing to enter the Sacrament of Matrimony, you have recognized the call of the Lord in your own love story.  This sacrament envelops our love in God’s grace and roots it in Him.  It is important to remember that marriage is not an arrival point, but a path of holiness that lasts a lifetime.

May God bless you abundantly as you prepare for the Sacrament of Matrimony and embark on this beautiful journey of love and holiness together.

The purpose of marriage is to help married people sanctify themselves and others.

For this reason, they receive a special grace in the sacrament which Jesus Christ instituted.

To help prepare for the celebration of your wedding, we have some guidelines to keep the sacredness of the Sacrament of Marriage and enhance the significance and sentiment of your wedding day:

What are the general steps for marriage preparation?

Appointment:

Please call the church office or click here to make an appointment with our marriage preparation coordinator, 6-12 months before your desired wedding date.

Preliminary interview:

Schedule a meeting with the priest. Discuss and complete necessary forms like the Pre-Nuptial Questionnaire (Form A)                              with the priest.

Marriage Preparation Program:

Participate in a marriage preparation program approved by the Diocese of Orlando. Options include diocesan-approved online

courses or in-person programs at a parish like Pre-Cana.

Meetings with Facilitator Couple:

Meet with a facilitator couple assigned by your parish to review the inventory results after you complete the premarital inventory (FOCCUS).

Documents:

Gather and submit required documents such as updated baptismal certificates, Letter of Freedom to Marry (Form B), annulment decrees (if applicable), and a valid Florida Marriage License.

Wedding Planning:

Meet with your wedding coordinator and the director of Liturgy/Music to plan the wedding liturgy, music, and rehearsal.  Please call the office to schedule an appointment.

Sacrament of Reconciliation:

If Catholic, participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation before the marriage.

Setting the Date:

The final date for the wedding is not to be set until the entire assessment process has been completed and a decision to proceed with sacramental preparation for marriage has been made.
